If you have exhausted all avenues and would like to discuss surrendering your pet to Happy Paws Animal Rescue, please familiarize yourself with our Pet Surrender process as outlined below:

Pet Surrender Process

Happy Paws Animal Rescue is a small rescue group which operates with limited resources and a small pool of foster carers. We work closely with death row pounds and as such have a limited number of spaces available at any given time. In the majority of cases we rely on animals being adopted to free up a spot for another animal in need. We regularly have animals waiting to come into care and we ask that you give us as much notice as possible when needing to surrender your pet. All animals adopted through Happy Paws Animal Rescue are vet checked, desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and flea & worm treated. It would be appreciated if a donation was made towards your pet’s vet work and upkeep. We find that animals cope better in new environments if they have something familiar with them. This may include a favourite toy, blanket, bedding, food etc. All animals are subject to temperament testing before being accepted into Happy Paws Animal Rescue's care. In line with the Victoria’s Code of Practice we legally cannot rehome animals that show signs of aggression or anxiety.  Please follow the link to the Animal Surrender Survey, this allows us to find a suitable carer for your pet or to direct your enquiry to another agency.
