Fostering is the backbone of animal rescue.  Without foster homes, cats and dogs in need of a second chance face very bleak futures. Being a Foster Carer can be challenging but knowing that you have helped change an animal’s life for the better is incredibly rewarding. Placing animals in foster homes allows us to get to know them and identify what sort of homes they are best suited to. Sometimes the need for a temporary home can be as short as one week or on other occasions it can exceed several months. All veterinary expenses are covered by Happy Paws and donated food, bedding and other supplies are available where possible.

If you are interested in becoming a foster carer you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Be over 18 years old.

  • Provide a safe and secure home where your foster animal will sleep inside.

  • Access to a reliable vehicle to transport your foster animal.

  • Adequate time to meet your foster animal’s physical and emotional needs.

  • Willingness to follow instructions and guidelines.

  • Possess excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to isolate your foster animal from personal pets if necessary.

  • Any personal pets are up to date with vaccinations and desexed.

If you meet the criteria and would like to join our team please follow the link to the Application Form. For further information check out the Frequently Asked Foster Questions.

This will be reviewed by our Coordinator and if approved we will arrange an informal meeting.

You will be asked to provide quality photos of your foster animal and complete an information sheet for their Adoption Profile.

We will take you through our Program in detail and answer any questions you may have. You will then be added to our private Facebook group.

We value your input into finding the animal their perfect forever home and you are welcome to attend Meet & Greets.

Once added to our private Facebook group you will be able to express interest in fostering any of the animal's posted.

If you are unable to part, there may be the option to  "Foster Fail". However this could limit your ability to help more animals in need.

During placement we rely on your feedback as you get to know the animal's personality, likes, dislikes, quirks etc.

Thank you for helping us change this beautiful animal's life for the better. Keep an eye out for "Happy Home Updates"
